My Story
In 2023, I was told I had less than a year to live. My liver was in end-stage failure after years of silently deteriorating. The signs had been creeping in—fatigue, swelling, jaundice—but by the time I was diagnosed, it was almost too late. I was dying.
I was placed on the transplant waiting list and braced myself for a long, uncertain road. But incredibly, just 10 days later, I got the call: a liver was available.
That moment changed everything.
The transplant saved my life—but it also forced me to rebuild it from the ground up. Recovery was intense. I had to face the physical trauma of surgery, the emotional weight of survival, and the lifelong commitment to staying healthy and sober. It was painful, humbling, and transformative.
Today, I’m living proof of what a second chance looks like. I’m sharing my story to raise awareness, give hope, and speak honestly about what it's like to face your mortality and come out the other side.
My Motivation and Inspiration
My motivation is to turn my survival into purpose. After receiving a life-saving liver transplant in 2023, I knew I couldn’t stay silent about what I had been through. I’m driven to raise awareness about liver disease, organ donation, and the realities of recovery—especially in underserved communities like the South Bronx, where stigma and silence often keep people from getting help. Through storytelling, advocacy, and creative expression, I want to inspire others to believe in second chances, take control of their health, and know that it's never too late to change their lives.
