My Story

I had my first issue with occipital nerve pain in 2014. I was treated with a nerve block and didn't have another occurance until 2020. I have seen numerous physicians, physical therapists, and acupuncture. I have had 3 more occipital blocks but they have not helped.

I now have an appointment at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix in May. I wondered if anyone had success with Mayo clinic ? I am in pain all the time except when reclining with a moist heating pad. I would appreciate any experiences that have helped.

[Response from Jim of Patients Rising: Hello Joyce, I have not experienced patient-care at the Mayo Clinic, but I've worked with them as a researcher and advocate. The care they provide is top notch. / As for chronic pain treatment, getting the care you need always comes back to working closely with your doctor. If your doctor cannot or will not treat your pain, you should ask to see a pain specialist. Again, your insurer can be a good ally here by telling you what providers might be available.]

My Motivation and Inspiration

I have been so interested in the stories you have presented, but feel discouraged that many have had no relief of this terrible pain!
