My Story

My name is Angela Kirkpatrick, and in April 2024, I underwent a bilateral oophorectomy I never truly consented to. I was 56 years old and told—wrongly—that my ovaries were “no longer functioning” because I was postmenopausal. There was no hormone testing, no explanation of alternatives, no mention of the neurological, cardiovascular, or immune consequences of surgical menopause.

Since the surgery, my life has unraveled. I live with constant buzzing in my head, brain fog, emotional disconnection, and physical breakdown. This was not just a “bad outcome”—it was a system failure. A healthy ovary was removed. Informed consent was never given. And no one has taken accountability.

I’m sharing my story because I want women to know the truth: postmenopausal ovaries still matter. What happened to me should not happen to anyone else.

My Motivation and Inspiration

My motivation is to make sure no other woman is misled into surgical menopause without full knowledge of the consequences.
My motivation is to make sure no other woman is misled into surgical menopause without full knowledge of the consequences. I was told my ovaries no longer mattered after menopause—but no hormone levels were tested, no alternatives were offered, and the risks of removal were never explained. I’m speaking out because I want women to receive real information, not dismissive reassurance. What happened to me wasn’t just a bad outcome—it was a violation of informed consent, and it changed my life. If my story can protect even one woman, then it’s worth sharing.
