My Story

Life is a tapestry woven with threads of joy and sorrow, and for me, it began with the carefree laughter of childhood—kids darting around the yard, climbing trees, and indulging in popsicles. I remember those sun-soaked days spent playing games like “Statue” and riding my bike to the tennis courts, where a chocolate Frosty was my reward.

But at 14, my world shifted dramatically. A major surgery on my ankle marked the beginning of a long medical journey fraught with challenges. Despite the struggles, my parents gifted me a car for my 16th birthday, a silver lining that eased my mobility issues. College brought new friendships and independence, yet my body continued to betray me.

A fateful winter evening changed everything. After a family dinner, a careless driver collided with my car, injuring my already fragile ankle. What followed was a frustrating odyssey through countless doctors, many of whom suggested amputation as a solution. I endured over 30 surgeries while navigating a maze of misdiagnoses, insurance refusals, and mounting medical bills. Each appointment felt like a step further down a rabbit hole of confusion, culminating in a lengthy lawsuit just to get the care I desperately needed.

Finally, I found a doctor who recognized my pain and the complexity of my condition. Yet, amidst the surgeries and the diagnosis of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, I learned resilience. My journey reflects the struggles of many with hidden disabilities—chronic pain often dismissed by society.

This story is a testament to the strength found in vulnerability, embracing the belief that even in suffering, we can strive to thrive. It’s a reminder that every journey, no matter how challenging, holds the potential for growth and understanding.

My Motivation and Inspiration

Not wanting others to live the way I was, I felt the call of God to get out and share my story and resources with others so that we can all thrive -- not just survive.
